About The Gallery

Welcome to the Little Scruffy Gallery.

Born from the imagination of artist db Fagen, the Little Scruffy Gallery is a celebration of scale, detail, and creative challenge. Bringing together a collective of East Tennessee artists, the gallery invites viewers into a world where art exists in miniature — each work created at 1/18th scale across a range of mediums.

Designed and built by db Fagen himself, the gallery is both exhibition space and artistic experiment — a place where painters, photographers, and makers are challenged to rethink their craft through intimacy of scale and precision of form.

Each month, the Little Scruffy Gallery presents rotating exhibitions featuring local artists and small-scale works that reward close looking and quiet discovery. Within these walls, miniature paintings, photographs, and three-dimensional pieces transform the familiar into something unexpected.

Mission

The Little Scruffy Gallery and Productions exists to cultivate bold artistic expression and socially engaged performance through two interconnected commitments:

• We challenge local artists to create impactful work on a small scale, proving that size does not limit artistic power.

• We produce “Guerrilla” theatre that confronts political and social issues through unexpected, provocative, and accessible performance. Inspired by the tradition of Guerrilla Theatre emerging from the radical social movements of the late 1960s and 1970s, our productions use satire, protest, spontaneity, and carnival-like energy to engage audiences in public and unconventional spaces. We believe art should disrupt complacency, spark dialogue, and bring creative resistance directly into everyday life.

Vision

The Little Scruffy Gallery and Productions envisions a thriving community where fearless small-scale art and socially conscious performance inspire conversation, challenge injustice, and make creative expression accessible to everyone. We strive to create spaces—both traditional and unexpected—where local artists are empowered to experiment boldly, audiences are encouraged to think critically, and theatre becomes an immediate, living force within everyday public life. Through intimate visual art and guerrilla performance, we seek to cultivate a culture of artistic resistance, civic engagement, and transformative dialogue.
